Music
The Librarian on the media server: what it is doing now, what needs a look, downloads, and the library it keeps.
About this page
Everything that comes in - an upload from AmeriBrit Transfer, a TorBox download, a YouTube job, files dropped on the share - lands in Incoming, and the Librarian is the only thing that files it: it sorts loose files into albums, matches each album to MusicBrainz, tags it, adds the cover and the lyrics, and puts it in the library as Artist / Album (Year).
What it cannot match waits under Needs attention. Each batch lists the songs inside. Fix lays them beside the Librarian’s best matches and Apple Music’s and MusicBrainz’s albums, ✓ or ✗ song by song, or takes a pasted Apple Music, Deezer, YouTube Music or Spotify link, and files the batch as that; File as tagged files it with its own tags when no catalogue has it; Discard sends the batch to the drive’s trash, where it can be recovered - nothing is deleted. A download that failed is there too, grouped by what went wrong, with Retry.
YouTube downloads run on the media server, because YouTube refuses most datacentre addresses. They are YouTube’s own audio, never re-encoded, and the Librarian files them like any other batch. Whether a download is lawful depends on what it is; the tool does not decide that for anyone.
An album missing tracks can be filled from YouTube - the missing tracks join the album already there - or replaced whole by a TorBox download, which becomes an album request with the download attached. A Spotify link imports whatever of it the library does not have. Spotify’s listening history, uploaded per person, gives the Jellyfin plugin’s mixes and charts years of listening, and lists the albums somebody plays that the library does not have.
Downloading
{{ ov.activeLabel }}Waiting for the Librarian
{{ waitingCount }}A batch is filed once nothing has been added to it for a while, so an upload still arriving is never filed half-done.
Recently filed
{{ ov.recentLabel }}The newest albums the Librarian put in the library. Jellyfin picks each one up on its own within a minute or two.
